Privacy Policy
Grave Dividend is published by ByteBrew IT LLC. This policy covers the Grave Dividend mobile game on Android and iOS (package com.bytebrewit.gravedividend).
The short version: you can play the whole game as a guest without giving us anything. If you choose to create an account so your progress survives a reinstall, that account uses an email address and password - the only personal information we ever hold. We show no advertising, we sell nothing to anyone, and the only thing about you that is ever public is the display name you choose for the leaderboard.
1. What we collect
There are two ways to play, and they collect different things.
As a guest (the default). The game signs you in anonymously and issues a random identifier. No email address, no password, nothing that identifies you. This is how you play unless you deliberately choose otherwise.
With an account (optional). If you want your progress to survive reinstalling the game or moving to another device, you can create an account with an email address and a password. You can also return to guest play at any time by signing out.
| Data | Why we hold it | Visible to others |
|---|---|---|
| Email address only if you create an account | Signing you back in, and recovering access to your account | No |
| Password only if you create an account | Stored hashed by our authentication provider. We never see it and cannot read it. | No |
| Anonymous player ID a random UUID | Links your progress and scores to your device without identifying you | No |
| Display name 3-24 characters, chosen by you | Shown beside your score on leaderboards | Yes - public |
| Gameplay records scores, rounds reached, kills, accuracy, run duration, outcome | Leaderboards, personal bests, and detecting impossible scores | Score and rank only |
| In-game currency ledger Dividend banked, spent and lost; perks owned | Keeps your Portfolio consistent across devices and sessions | No |
| Platform and build version e.g. "Android", "1.4.0" | Diagnosing bugs and separating scores across game versions | No |
| Local settings selected level, unlock progress | Stored only on your device | No |
2. What we do not collect
Beyond the account email address described above, we do not collect or process any of the following: your real name, phone number or postal address; your location, whether precise or approximate; your contacts, photos, files, calendar or microphone; advertising identifiers; device identifiers that persist across reinstalls; payment or financial information; or biometric data.
The Dividend is not money
Grave Dividend contains no real-money purchases. "Dividend" is an in-game score currency with no cash value, and it cannot be bought, sold, cashed out or transferred.
3. No advertising, no tracking, no sale of data
The game contains no advertising SDKs, no third-party analytics, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we do not engage in targeted advertising.
4. Who processes data on our behalf
| Provider | Role | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Unity Technologies | Anonymous sign-in, co-op lobbies and matchmaking. Your chosen display name is passed to the lobby so other players in your session can see it. | unity.com |
| Supabase | Hosts the database holding profiles, scores and the Dividend ledger, and runs the authentication service that stores account email addresses and hashed passwords. | supabase.com |
| Apple and Google | Distribute the app and report aggregate, anonymous install and crash statistics to us. We never receive your identity from them. | Their respective policies |
5. Where data is held and how it is protected
Records are stored in our Supabase project and transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Every table is protected by row-level security, meaning the database itself enforces that one player cannot read or alter another player's records. Score submissions are validated and settled on the server rather than trusted from the device.
6. How long we keep it
Profiles, runs and ledger entries are kept for as long as the account is in use, because they are what your leaderboard position and Portfolio are made of. If you ask us to delete your data we remove it within 30 days. Backups containing deleted records are cycled out within a further 30 days.
7. Your rights
Wherever you live, you may ask us to provide a copy of the data associated with your player ID, correct it, or delete it. If you are in the UK, the EU or another region covered by the GDPR, our lawful basis is legitimate interest in operating the game's progression and leaderboards; you may also object to that processing or ask us to restrict it. If you are a California resident, you have the rights to know, delete, and correct, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
To exercise any of these, see Delete my data or write to support@bytebrewit.com. If you have an account, write from its email address and we can find your records. If you play as a guest there is nothing tying the records to you, so we will need the player ID shown in the game's settings screen.
8. Children
Grave Dividend depicts stylised combat against zombies and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU and UK). If you believe a child has provided us with a display name or other information, write to support@bytebrewit.com and we will delete it.
The only free-text field in the game is the leaderboard display name. Names that contain personal information or offensive content may be reset without notice.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change what we collect or why, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
